Sounds of Ancestors

(Poetic Concert)

This poetic concert brings together 20th-century Persian art songs set to Persian poetry and French mélodies inspired by Orientalism, performed in an intimate voice-and-piano format.

Far away, where no dwelling can be seen, the caravan continues its journey. It moves through unfamiliar landscapes where the final breeze across the fields seems to fade into the breath of the stars.

Go slowly: the time for dreaming is short, the travellers say. It is that elusive moment when an old map is unfolded, its roads and traces nearly erased.

Everything gradually comes to a halt. One is carried away by an unreasonable dream without knowing where the road will end. Beneath the bridges of Paris or Brooklyn, in the gardens of Shiraz or Jaipur, before the northern fjords or southern deserts, stories unfold and notes take flight.

It is into this dreamlike space that the album by Anousha Nazari & Jeyran Ghiaee invites us: a place beyond time where the fragrance of Persian orange blossom meets the lavender fields of Provence. In this suspended landscape, the voice of a free woman rises, rebels and is moved by words shaped by the endless mirages of the desert.

Labyrinthe Baroque

Anousha Nazari and Antoine Morinière (classical guitarist) invite audiences into Labyrinthe Baroque.

The programme traces a luminous path through early music, where works by Handel, Dowland and Strozzi meet the captivating melodies of the 15th-century Persian composer Maraghi, culminating in a modern work composed by Antoine Morinière to poetry by the 13th-century poet Rumi. Through original arrangements for voice and guitar, the programme creates a bridge across periods and cultures, revealing new facets of early music in an intimate and immersive experience. More than a concert, Labyrinthe Baroque explores the rich mosaic of musical diversity through the distinctive artistic identity and international presence of the duo.

United by a shared commitment to building bridges between musical traditions and poetic worlds, the artists bring authenticity, sensitivity and boldness to every performance, inviting the audience into a soundscape where cultural boundaries dissolve with grace.

In Vino Veritas

In Vino Veritas: A Tribute to Khayyam is a musical project produced and released in 2024 by Gondishapour in partnership with the Fondation Nationale des Beaux-Arts. The album explores the quatrains of the great Persian poet Khayyam through contemporary chamber music composed specifically for the recording. Written for lyric voice, clarinet and piano, it brings together works by four contemporary composers. The project celebrates wine, love and the eternal search for the present moment at the heart of Khayyam’s timeless poetry.

Khosrow & Shirin

The duo Khosrow & Shirin invites audiences into the captivating world of Persian music. Anousha Nazari and Sepand Dadbeh lead the audience on a poetic and spiritual journey inspired by the celebrated 12th-century Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi. Their performance evokes the legendary love story of the Persian king Khosrow and the Armenian princess Shirin through modal traditions stretching from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean.

The programme moves through a richly connected musical landscape in which melodies by Abd al-Qadir al-Maraghi meet the Cantigas de Santa Maria and songs by Komitas, creating an evocative and memorable sonic tapestry.

A Duo in Perfect Dialogue

In a repertoire where melody takes centre stage, Anousha Nazari joins pianist Laurianne Corneille to form a closely connected musical duo. Combining the elegance of French mélodie with the depth of Persian art song, they create a musical journey that crosses borders while preserving the intimacy and refinement of the voice-and-piano tradition.

Together, the two artists invite audiences into a sound world where poetry, colour and expression meet.
