Lyric mezzo-soprano based in Paris

Anousha Nazari is a lyric mezzo-soprano based in Paris. Shaped by both Persian and European influences, her repertoire and artistic path create a distinctive bridge between these two worlds.

Having already performed at major venues in Iran, including Roudaki Hall with the Tehran Symphony Orchestra, and having received a distinction at the Tehran International Music Festival, Anousha Nazari has since appeared at prominent European venues including the Palais Garnier (Paris Opera), the Philharmonie de Paris, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich, Théâtre Marigny, Salle Cortot, the Beaux-Arts de Paris and Hôtel de Lauzun. Her international career has also taken her to China, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Thailand, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

Based in France since 2016, she developed her vocal artistry through advanced studies with Jean-François Rouchon and Aurélie Lobbé. Along the way, she has collaborated in chamber music with artists including Shani Diluka, Sonia Wieder-Atherton, Antoine Morinière and Julie Gayet, and has worked with conductor Bar Avni at the Paris Opera.

Her first album, Sounds of Ancestors (2021), released by the Samuel Jordan Center for Persian Studies & Culture at the University of California, pays tribute to her heritage through 20th-century Persian art songs set to texts by major poets of the Persian-speaking world. The same year, she took part in the international project 20 Songs and Lullabies from Around the World (Joyvox Éditions / Sony Music) alongside twenty other artists. Her second album, In Vino Veritas: A Tribute to Khayyam (2024), produced by Gondishapour in partnership with the Fondation Nationale des Beaux-Arts, explores Khayyam’s quatrains through contemporary chamber music composed specifically for the recording.

She also created Labyrinthe Baroque with classical guitarist Antoine Morinière, bringing Handel and Strozzi into dialogue with the poetry of Rumi and the music of Maraghi in a project widely presented in concert.

Alongside her stage performances, Anousha has presented a series of video projects in partnership with institutions including the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Philharmonie de Paris and the Musée national des arts asiatiques – Guimet.

She has also served as a jury member for distinguished institutions and events, including the 160th edition of the Fondation Nationale des Beaux-Arts and the Global Encounters Festival of the Aga Khan Development network.
